Everything you see in the homestay is sourced locally. The furniture has been made by prisoners from jails of Bareilly. All linens and towels at the homestay are made of Khadi, as this is the only textile that is not made with any electrical support and so does not use fossil fuel. The homestay has also collaborated with local eco-friendly and socially-responsible initiatives. The dry waste generated at the homestay is upcycled into home décor by Scrapshala, a social venture focused on managing and reusing urban trash, and reused at Granny’s Inn. The homestay also collaborates with Shuruart, a niche online marketplace that showcases original artworks of BHU students who come from modest backgrounds. The Inn’s common area has been converted into an art gallery that showcases art from Shuruart. Guests can interact with the artists at Shuruart and also participate in workshops run by Scrapshala.
